ARMCO® Pure Iron is used for magnetic shielding, where the goal is to control, redirect, or attenuate magnetic fields, especially static and low‑frequency fields. Magnetic shielding works by providing a path for magnetic flux so that the field prefers to travel through the shield material rather than through surrounding air or sensitive equipment. ARMCO® Pure Iron is a soft‑magnetic material with extremely high magnetic permeability.
When placed around a magnetic field source (or around sensitive equipment); it attracts magnetic field lines, conducts them through the iron structure and reduces stray fields outside the shielded volume. This makes it ideal for passive shielding, meaning no power supply or active control is required.
